Abimail Perez-Gomez, 26, of Afton, was taken into custody April 13 on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 9:30 p.m. deputies stopped a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer in the alley behind Kansas Street in Afton. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Perez-Gomez, who had bloodshot, watery eyes, the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and slurred speech. There were open alcohol containers in the vehicle and Perez-Gomez admitted to consuming four to six beers.

He consented to and failed field sobriety testing and a PBT showed his BrAC above .08%. Perez-Gomez was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result of the test indicated a BAC of .107%.

Perez-Gomez was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
