Creston Police report - April 30, 2024

Valerie A. Cross, 39, of Creston, was taken into custody 8:17 a.m. April 29, at the Union County LEC on a Union County warrant for the charge of criminal mischief, third degree.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:55 p.m. March 22, Cross was speaking to her estranged husband over the phone when she heard his girlfriend make offensive remarks, which angered Cross. She then sent text messages threatening to physically assault the girlfriend and said she was going to damage her estranged husband’s truck.

Cross then drove to his residence in the 500 block of North Cedar Street. Using a tire iron, Cross smashed the taillights of the truck and caused other damage to the rear of the truck. A body shop estimated the damage at $852. Cross admitted in a statement to causing the damage.

Cross was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Garrett N. Thomson, 21, of Creston, was taken into custody 4:18 p.m. April 29, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on a Union County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of unlawful possession of a prescription drug.

According to a Union County District Court document, Thomson was ordered to appear in court April 26 for a pretrial conference on the original charge and did not appear.

Thomson was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash only bond.

Sydney A. Martin, 24, of Creston, was taken into custody 6:59 p.m. April 29, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of disorderly conduct - abusive epithets/threatening gesture.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 5:21 p.m. April 5, Martin screamed, used profanity and made an aggressive gesture toward a male and witness in a public place in the 100 block of North Elm Street. Martin made statements similar to the report.

Martin was cited and released on a summons to appear.
