Creston bowling teams in different lanes

Creston Panthers bowling teams have completed their schedule before the holiday break. The boys’ and girl’s teams are in different conditions because of numbers. Coach Ron Pendegraft is just thrilled they all want to compete.

“We have had four matches for the boys and the girls have had one. That is because we only have three girls this year. They can only score as an individual, not as a team. You need five to score as a team,” he said.

Nicole Nutt, Olivia Coenen and Jana Peavler are the three girl bowlers.

“They all contribute,” Pendegraft said.

Creston girls first match was Dec. 9 at Shenandoah. Coenen led with a 246. Peavler scored 213 and Nutt finished with 205. Shenandoah defeated Creston 2,295 to 927.

Shenandoah’s high first-round score was 371.

“Since it’s been short either the other team doesn’t have a girls team or like at Clarinda we had a girl sick and couldn’t compete,” Penedegraft said.

On Dec. 12 at Clarinda, Coenen scored 253 and Nutt had a 199. Clarinda’s high score in the first round was a 383.

Creston girls return to action Jan. 9 at Clarke.

Boys

“A far as the boys, they have all four meets in and we have 10 boys total. Brett Orr has had the best average on team so far,” Penedgraft said.
