Creston boys race at conference meet

The Creston boys take off from the starting line Thursday at the Hawkeye 10 meet in Carroll. The team placed 11th.

CARROLL — The Panther boys took 11th at the Hawkeye 10 meet Thursday in Carroll, led by sophomore Wyatt Goodenberger and junior Hector Suazo.

Goodenberger placed 39th in 19:28.37 followed shortly by Suazo in 44th, running 19:46.98.

Freshman Austin Jondle and junior Kylen Parsons came in at 59th and 60th, respectively, both running PRs and their first time sub-21. Jondle ran 20:40.07 while Parsons finished in 20:58.99.

Rounding out the Panthers were freshman Colt Key (23:02.58) in 70th and senior Spencer Brown (24:46.92) in 73rd. Brown had beat his previous personal best time by 20 seconds.

Lewis Central won the meet decisively with a score of 28 and all five scorers in the top 15. Red Oak took silver with a score of 95.

The Panthers return to action Wednesday at the Iowa State cross country course for the state qualifying meet, hosted by Gilbert.
