Postseason baseball brackets released

Postseason baseball is just around the corner as Class 1A and 2A schools kick off the tournament Saturday, July 6.

CNA area teams will be competing in Class 1A Substate 8 in districts 15 and 16.

Lenox will host two District 16 games, the 5 p.m. game bout being St. Albert vs. Fremont-Mills. Lenox plays Sidney at 7.

The two winners will face off Tuesday, July 9.

In District 15, East Union will also host two games on the 6th. Southwest Valley will take on Stanton in Afton at 5 p.m. followed by the Eagles against Mormon Trail at 7.

Martensdale-St. Mary’s will host two local teams that day as Mount Ayr and Bedford face off at 5 followed by Murray against the hosting team at 7.

The champion of each district will play July 16 to qualify for state.

The Class 3A tourney begins Friday, July 12, the Panthers hosting Denison-Schleswig.

The winner will advance to play the winner of the Harlan vs. Carroll game.

Three substate wins equals a trip to state.
