Homer trifecta takes Panthers over Titans in H10 doubleheader

Creston swept Lewis Central 13-5, 11-3 on the road Monday

COUNCIL BLUFFS —The Panther (14-12, 13-2) offense was on display Monday at Lewis Central (9-16, 7-11) as they swept the Titans 13-5 and 11-3.

Creston’s first three batters, Ava Adamson, Avery Staver and Jersey Foote, each hit a home run during the bouts.

Entering the sixth inning of game one, the score was tied at 4. Foote hit a pop fly for the first out followed by Taryn Fredrickson hitting to the pitcher who threw her out at first for the second out.

Despite the two outs on the board, the Panthers went on to have every girl in the batting lineup make it home that inning.

Five girls hit singles and the remaining three smoked doubles, putting up nine runs to take a commanding lead over the Titans.

In game one, Foote went 3-4 at bat for three runs and three RBIs.

Fredrickson pitched game one, throwing five strikeouts and two walks, allowing five runs on five hits.

Fredrickson was in the circle for two innings of game two, adding three strikeouts to her total and allowing no runs.

Freshman Kennedy Strider pitched the remaining five innings with two strikeouts, five walks and three runs allowed.

Adamson went 4-5 including a triple and a homer for three runs and three RBIs. Strider was 3-3 for two runs.

Adamson and Staver’s home runs were back-to-back in the second inning to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead heading into the third inning.

Despite the two conference wins, the Panthers remain just behind Clarinda (24-6, 14-2) in Hawkeye 10 standings.

Creston returns to action Thursday at home in a doubleheader with Denison-Schleswig, another conference matchup.

Saturday Creston travels to Carlisle for a tournament before a makeup game Monday at Clarinda to possibly determine the final conference rankings.
