Creston’s Tristan Evans is a quick learner on the golf course.
In his rookie campaign of high school golf, the Panther junior was medalist in Monday’s home dual meet against Red Oak. Evans, along with Red Oak’s Tyler Beeson and Cyrus Mensen, each shot 46 on the par-36 Crestmoor Golf Club course. Evans won via the second handicap hole tiebreaker. Beeson was runner-up medalist.
Red Oak won the dual meet, 189-195. Creston seniors Carson Rieck and Max Skellenger were honored prior to the meet with their parents, along with recognition of the late Sterling Sharp, a member of their class and junior golf teammate of the seniors as youths.
“On senior night we struggled being consistent,” Creston coach Steve Shantz said. “We would like to thank Max Skellenger and Carson Rieck for competing for us for four years. Tristan Evans was medalist for us and this is Tristan’s first year out. He has been improving all year.”
Kaiser Smith shot the low score of 49 for the Creston JV that had a 209 team score. The Panthers are scheduled to compete in the Hawkeye Ten Tournament Thursday in Clarinda.
There was no girls meet Monday.
