The Creston Wrestling Hall of Fame committee has announced tickets are still available for the annual induction and scholarship award banquet this month.
The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Eagles Club in Creston. Social hour is 4 p.m. Recognition of the 1963, 1973, 1983, 1993, 2003 and 2013 teams and scholarship awards will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a steak or chicken breast dinner and 2023 Hall of Fame inductions.
The fundraising event for annual scholarships will include a silent auction, raffle prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased from Hulett & Sons or Hartsock Insurance or by contacting John Walters (641-247-1984), Dan Hayes (641-202-6566), Emmy Key (641-202-3136) or Chuck Hulett (641-202-2262).
The 2023 inductees includes 19-year wrestling coach Darrell Frain of state tournament and dual state tournament championship teams in 2007 and 2016; 1970s state tournament placewinner Kim Kirkman; the Willets brothers (Larry, Rod, Jerry and Ted) from strong Panther teams in the 1960s; and longtime Creston News Advertiser sports writer Larry Peterson, who has covered the wrestling program since 1985.
