Coming off a 7-3 win in game one, the Panthers (15-8) made quick work of St. Albert Catholic at home (14-10) in game two Monday, finding a 10-0 shut out in five innings.
Game One
It was the Falcons who found the first run of the matchup on an error in the first.
Creston struggled through the first two innings, being called out six times on six plate appearances. The third looked to start the same with the first two batters being struck out at the plate, but Caitlin Bruce was walked, the first Panther on base.
Senior powerhouse Nevaeh Randall followed with a signature home run and Daile Keeler had a solo home run right after to score three in the third.
Also scoring for the Panthers were Mila Kuhns and Sophie Hagle with one and Jersey Foote with two.
Keely Coen threw 58 strikes on 90 pitches, allowing three runs and striking out six batters.
Game Two
The Panthers had a much better start in game two with four runs in the first inning. Randall, Ava Adamson, Kuhns and Foote scored.
Batters with solo home runs in game two were Kuhns and Randall in the third and fourth, respectively.
The home run increases Randall’s single-season school record to 16 and her career total to 42.
Pitching the shut out for the Panthers was Taryn Fredrickson, who had 45 strikes on 80 pitches and striking out 10 batters.
Three sequential strike outs in the second and fifth innings helped seal Creston’s shut out against the conference rival.
The Panthers continue to lead the Hawkeye 10 with with a conference record of 12-2. Following close behind is Atlantic (10-4), the only H10 team the Panthers have fallen to this season.
Creston returns to action Wednesday at home for senior night against Shenandoah.
The Fillies are ranked ninth in the Hawkeye 10 (5-10).
