Boys track
Monday, the Creston boys track team competed at the Coed Ram Relays in Glenwood where they placed 10th in the 11-team field.
Continuing their dominance streak was the distance medley relay team of Chris Aragon, Payton Conley, Austin Evans and Brandon Briley. Their time of 3:43.91 placed first in the event to score 10 points for the Panthers.
Also scoring for the Panthers were Quinten Fuller in discus, Jackson Pettegrew in the 800 meter dash and Weston Trapp in long jump.
In addition to the distance medley relay, Creston earned points in many relays including the 4x100, 4x200, 4x800, sprint medley and shuttle hurdle.
The boys return to action today at the Dave Tapps Invitational in Van Meter.
Girls track
Monday, the Creston girls track team competed at the Coed Ram Relays in Glenwood where they placed ninth in the 11-team field.
The Panthers found silver in two events. Doryn Paup took second in the discus with her throw of 109-01 and the 4x800m relay team of Ella Turner, Emma Pantini, Payton Davis and Sydney Strunk placed second with their season-best time of 10:53.88.
Also scoring for the Panthers were Emma Pantini in the 800m run, Paup in the 100m and 400m hurdles.
In addition to the 4x800m relay, Creston earned points in the 4x100 and the shuttle hurdle relay.
The girls return to action today at the Dave Tapps Invitational in Van Meter.
Tuesday, the girls competed at the Chariton Lady Chargers Relays in Corydon where they placed fifth out of 12 teams.
In Class AA, Paup and the 4x800m relay team of Davis, Turner, Pantini and Strunk took gold, the relay again setting a season-best with their time of 10:50.24.
Also scoring for the Panthers were Pantini in the 800m, Mia Strunk in the 1500m, Kadley Bailey in the 100m and 400m hurdles, Brynn Tussey in the shot put and Paup in discus.
In addition to the 4x800m relay, Creston earned points in the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, sprint medley, distance medley and shuttle hurdle relay.
Boys Golf
Tuesday, the Creston boys golf team competed in Centerville where they finished sixth in the seven-team field.
“Great day for golf on a tough course, but we competed well,” Coach Steve Shantz said. “It is nice to play against different teams and different courses. We did have some tough luck.”
Though Marshall Long led the team with his season-best score of 89, he was disqualified for not turning in his scorecard.
“He also missed a hole in one by about a foot on a great shot,” Shantz added.
Carson Rieck and Chasse Downing of Creston finished the meet both with a score of 93. They were followed by Max Skellenger, 97, and Garrett Fry, 98.
The boys return to action Monday at the Red Oak Country Club.
