GLENWOOD — The Panthers girls soccer program fell 10-0 to Glenwood in Class 2A - Region 2 play on Friday. Creston has fallen 10-0 eight times in series history since 2011.
The Rams also notched a 10-0 victory eight days prior.
“We went into the game knowing that we had played them before so we knew what we were looking at,” head coach Becca Ross said. “How they attacked offensively and what their defense was like. We knew it was going to be a tough game because we knew what the score line could be.”
Glenwood led 8-0 at halftime before getting the deciding two goals in the second half.
Ram goal scorers included Ava Scott, Liberty Williams and Alaina Meads who each had two, and Ryley Nebel, Isabel Griffin and Molly Williams who had one each.
“Our goal was to make the game last as long as possible,” Ross said. “We asked them to give it their all.”
Creston (0-15), who opened their season with a 10-0 loss at Denison-Schlewsig, learned a lot about soccer this spring whether it be good, bad or ugly.
“I think if you took the team that played at the very beginning of the season and the girls who played at the end of the season, you would see a completely different energy, attitude and output,” Ross said. “We were really starting to click on and off the field.”
Hannah Rounds was the lone senior on the 2022 Panther team.
“Hannah is an amazing player and person in general,” Ross said. “We couldn’t have been more lucky for her to decide to go out her senior year. She brings such a positive energy to the team. She’s always willing to work hard and do anything we ask of her. She battled with some post injuries from previous things and we were always making sure we were playing it safe with her. She always asked us to push her harder.”
