Southwestern’s freshman catcher, Peyton Rice of Creston, hit the first home run in her career in her second game back after being out due to a hamstring injury.
“A couple innings before, she said ‘I’ve never had a home run before, wouldn’t that be cool if it happened today?’,” Spartan head coach Danny Jensen said.
“Well, in the third inning she hit a three run homer right over the center field wall, probably 225 feet away. She was so excited when it went out.”
