Creston golf opens season at Clarke

Panther squads bag third place finish

OSCEOLA — Creston boys and golfs golf teams traveled to Osceola Country Club Tuesday afternoon and finished third.

Winterset defeated Clarke and Creston in the boys match, 169-174-215.

Clarke’s Austin Gonseth was the medalist with a 38 around the extremely windy nine holes.

Carson Reick was the highest finisher for the Panthers, as he carded a 50.

Trey Chesnut (52), Garrett Fry (54) and Tylor Loudon (59) all shot in the 50s for Creston.

Will Bolinger fired a 62 and Max Skellenger fired an 81.

For the girls side of the match, Clarke defeated Winterset and Creston, 211-217-241.

Senior Maria Groumoutis fired a 51, which would have been good for third place.

Saige Johnston shot a 60 and Josie Johnston had a 66.

Katie Foglesong shot a 64.

The boys travel to Fox Run Golf Course in Council Bluffs today for the L.C. Invite featuring the following schools: East Mills, Fremont-Mills, Glenwood, Lewis Central (host), Red Oak, Shenandoah and St. Albert.

The girls will be playing in the Shenandoah Girls Golf Invitational where they will encounter a list of schools, notably conference foes and area schools: Clarinda, Denison-Schleswig, East Union, Glenwood, Harlan, Nodaway Valley, Red Oak, Shenandoah (host), Southwest Valley and St. Albert.
