11 Panthers land on All-District 6 team, four on honorable mention

11 Creston Panthers were named to the all-District 6 football team Sunday morning.

On the first team, Briley Hayes was selected as a running back and Avery Fuller was named as a lineman. On defense, Derek Paup was named a first team defensive lineman for the second year in a row. Gage Skarda (linebacker) and Gannon Greenwalt (defensive back) were also selected.

Hayes led the Panthers with 865 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns from scrimmage.

Avery Fuller was part of an offensive line that ran for a collective 1,951 yards and 26 touchdowns as well as 993 yards through the air and 10 touchdowns.

Paup tallied 29 tackles including four sacks, seven tackles for loss two fumble recoveries and one interception.

Skarda posted 26 tackles as well as one sack and a pair of tackles for loss.

Greenwalt finished the season with 34 1/2 tackles, a trio of fumble recoveries and an interception.

Junior quarterback Kyle Strider, sophomore running back Brennan Hayes and senior Chris Wilson were the offensive representatives on the second team.

Austin Evans (linebacker), Dylan Calvin (defensive back), Cael Turner (defensive back) and Derek Paup as a punter made the defensive second team.

Strider was the leading passer for Creston during the 2021 season, completing just over 50% of his passes for 958 yards and nine touchdowns as well as running for four touchdowns.

Brennan Hayes finished his season with 687 rushing yards and a trio of touchdowns.

Wilson is a Graceland University commit to play football.

Austin Evans tackled opponents 36 times, including two sacks and 2 1/2 tackles for loss.

Dylan Calvin had 27 tackles, 20 of which were solo stops, and three interceptions.

Derek Paup punted 22 times for 814 yards.

Owen Richards (line) and Brandon Briley were on the honorable mention team for offense.

Richards, like Wilson, is a Graceland University commit to play football.

Briley had 13 receptions for 326 yards and a pair of touchdowns during the 2021 season.

Ty Morrison and Andre Davis were both on the honorable mention defensive squad.

Morrison finished his season with 32.5 tackles.

Davis had 10 tackles including a tackle for loss and a sack.
