CCHS baseball coach Steve Birchard retires

Creston baseball coach Steve Birchard holds an autographed memento plaque he received from the 2021 team during a ceremony Monday night when the Panthers hosted Lewis Central. Birchard is retiring after serving as head baseball coach since 2009 and serving in the district 29 years total as a teacher and coach. He first came to Creston as a baseball player for Bill Krejci at Southwestern Community College in 1981 and returned as a teacher and coach at Creston Community High School in 1992. His final game with the team was Tuesday at Clarinda.
