Creston Fire responds to morning vehicle fire

Creston Fire responded to a report of a vehicle fully engulfed in flames 6:09 a.m. today in the BNSF rail yard at East Montgomery and North Cherry streets.

According to Creston Fire Chief Todd Jackson, six firefighters responded to the incident and said the vehicle was stolen. The 2003 Chevy found was taken from the Eby’s Auto, 402 E. Montgomery St., sometime overnight.

Estimated loss of the vehicle is $5,000. Property damage to the gate has yet to be reported.

This incident is still under investigation.
