Yesenia M. Castro, 24, of Corning, was taken into custody 4:16 p.m. April 7, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on a Union County warrant for the charges of OWI, first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Sept. 28, 2024, a 2017 Dodge Charger was stopped on Highway 34 for speeding. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Castro, who admitted to having a small amount to drink. The odor of marijuana was detected coming from the Charger. Castro told officers she had smoked earlier in the day. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, officers located a THC vape pen and marijuana pipe.
Castro consented to field sobriety testing and showed clues of impairment. She was transported to Greater Regional Health where she consented to provide a urine specimen for chemical testing. On Oct. 29, 2024, lab results of the specimen were received and showed a positive screen for marijuana metabolites that met or exceeded levels established by Iowa Code.
Castro was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting 10% of a $1,300 cash or surety bond.
