Yasmin R. Banda, 34, of Creston, was taken into custody 3:55 p.m. Feb. 24, at Spruce and Prairie streets on charges of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver - methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense; possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, first offense and keeping premise or vehicle for controlled substance violation.
According to a Creston Police report, a traffic stop was conducted on a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu owned and operated by Banda due to a search warrant issued for the vehicle by the state of Iowa. Banda was detained and the vehicle was searched pursuant to the warrant.
During the search, two baggies containing a crystalline substance, one weighing approximately 2.86 grams and the second weighing .70 grams, which later field tested positive for methamphetamine, a circular container with THC wax, used syringes, syringes full of blood and syringes with clear liquid were found in Banda’s belongings. A digital scale with methamphetamine residue, multiple baggies commonly used for packaging and distributing narcotics and a jar of THC wax were located under the passenger seat.
Banda was transported to the Adams County Jail and held on $15,000 cash or surety and $300 cash-only bonds.
