Creston Police report - Feb. 25, 2025

Joyce L. McCubbin, 78, of Creston, was taken into custody 2:09 p.m. Feb. 21, in the 800 block of Laurel Street on the charge of theft, fifth degree.

According to a Creston Police report, Walmart employees reported McCubbin had taken multiple crafting items totaling $65.20 and had also been observed stealing merchandise the previous day.

While searching McCubbin, items taken the day before were found on her person.

McCubbin told officers she was tired of being over charged and ripped off by Walmart so she decided to steal the items.

McCubbin was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

David J. Richman, 44, of Creston, was taken into custody 6:45 p.m. Feb. 21, in the 800 block of West Summit Street on a Union County warrant for the charges of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:44 p.m. Dec. 16, Richman was arrested on a Union County warrant. During the arrest Richman was found to be in possession of marijuana pipe containing a green leafy substance. The substance was sent to the DCI Lab where it was confirmed it to be marijuana.

Richman has two non-marijuana drug possession convictions.

Richman was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $5,300 cash or surety bond.

Jayden R. V. Peavler, 21, of Creston, was taken into custody 10:47 p.m. Feb. 21, at Laurel Street and Highway 34 on the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 10:23 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted on a 2006 Buick Lecern for having a headlight out. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Peavler, and the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.

A probable-cause search was conducted. Approximately two grams of marijuana was located in the center console of the car. Peavler and passengers in the vehicle claimed to know nothing about the marijuana.

Peavler was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Donnajo M. Aunspach, 56, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:37 a.m. Feb. 22, at Cherry and Irving streets on the charges of driving while suspended and OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:04 a.m. a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu was observed eastbound on Howard Street driving in the middle of the road. The license plate tag on the Malibu was expired.

A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Aunspach, who had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from her person. Aunspach was found to have a suspended license. She admitted to officers she had been drinking and probably had drank too much.

Aunspach was transported to the garage of the Union County Law Enforcement Center for field sobriety testing. She completed one test and showed clues of impairment, she refused a second test and was unable to perform a third. She consented to a PBT and produced a BrAC result of over .08%.

Aunspach consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result indicated her BAC to be .223%.

Aunspach was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Savannah I. McVay, 41, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:27 p.m. Feb. 22, at her residence on the charges of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury and criminal mischief.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 7:08 p.m. a possible domestic assault was reported in the 600 block of North Birch Street. When officers arrived, they spoke with McVay who said she and the victim had been arguing and she had hit the victim in the head with her hand and bit the victim’s hand. The victim had marks consistent with the report. McVay also picked up and intentionally broke a computer monitor belonging to the victim, valued at $900.

McVay was transported to the Adams County Jail where she was released from on her own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Gary S. McVay, 45, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:27 p.m. Feb. 22, at his residence on the charge of violation of a no contact order.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 7:08 p.m. officers responded to a domestic assault in the 600 block of North Birch Street.

An active no contact order was found to exist between McVay and the female at the residence.

McVay was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Tara L. Mickael, 36, of Creston, was taken into custody 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23, at Union Street and New York Avenue on the charges of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, first offense and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver methamphetamine over five grams under five kilograms.

According to a Creston Police report, a traffic stop was conducted on a 2007 Ford Explorer for an equipment violation. The driver of the Explorer gave officers consent to search the vehicle. The passenger, identified as Mickael, was told a search would be preformed and admitted there was methamphetamine in the vehicle.

A total of five grams of methamphetamine, packaged in separate baggies, a scale and empty baggies were located in Mickael’s purse. Mickael later admitted to selling methamphetamine to various people.

Mickael was transported to the Adams County Jail and held on $26,000 cash or surety bond.
