Elizabeth E. Christensen, 63, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:37 p.m. Feb. 19, at her residence on a Union County warrant for the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 10:37 p.m. Jan. 22, a traffic stop was conducted on a 2013 Ford Fusion at Adams and Division streets after it was observed crossing the centerline multiple times and driving erratically. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Christensen, who told officers her poor driving was due to her coughing.

Christensen denied taking any substances but had visible raised heat bumps on the back of her tongue, common when someone has recently smoked from a pipe. Christensen consented to field sobriety testing and showed numerous validated clues of impairment. She also consented Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) tests and showed numerous indicators of impairment.

Christensen later consented to provide a urine sample for chemical testing. She also admitted to smoking methamphetamine the previous day.

A toxicology report was received Feb. 17 from the DCI Lab containing the findings of the specimen. The report showed a positive screen for amphetamines and further detailed a presence of methamphetamine.

Christiansen was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting 10% of a $1,000 cash or surety bond.
