Carl W. DeGonia, 54, of Diagonal, was taken into custody 2:53 a.m. Feb. 8, at Howard and Vine streets on the charge of public Intoxication.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:29 a.m. an intoxicated male was reported to be yelling at a female at the intersection. Officers observed the male, identified as DeGonia, standing outside of the driver’s side of a pickup and a female, identified as the reporting party, inside the truck.
The female told officers she and DeGonia had started arguing while in the truck which caused DeGonia to get out and start to walk away. He then returned to the truck and continued yelling at the female.
Officers detected a strong odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from DeGonia’s breath and he was observed to have slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes. DeGonia admitted to drinking alcohol at a local bar. He consented to a PBT and produced a result above .08%.
DeGonia was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

John E. Jupiter, 41, of West Burlington, was taken into custody 4:27 a.m. Feb. 8, in the 100 block of West Taylor St. on the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:07 a.m. officers were inside of Casey’s General Store when a male, later identified as Jupiter, walked by them with the strong odor of marijuana emitting from his person.
Officers waited outside for Jupiter and when he came out asked him how much marijuana he had on him. Jupiter told them he didn’t have any. He was then asked how much marijuana was in his vehicle. Jupiter admitted to having a few roaches in the ashtray.
A probable-cause search of a 2012 Ford Fusion was conducted. Officers located several roaches and a baggie containing a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana.
Jupiter was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $500 cash or surety bond.
