At 2:24 a.m. Feb. 2, Creston Tobacco, 600 W. Taylor St. Suite B, reported various vape products were stolen from the store.
Estimated loss of products was $300.

Rebekah R. Moon, 45, of Creston, was taken into custody 6:21 a.m. Jan. 26, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, second offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:48 a.m. a 2013 Chrysler 200 was observed in the 900 block of West Howard Street committing multiple traffic violations, including stopping in the middle of the road, making an illegal u-turn in an intersection, not having rear lights activated, activating high beam lights in town, illegal turn, stopping in the middle of an intersection at a red light, stopping at a green light, speeding, seat belt violation, erratic use of turn signals, making wide turns, using the wrong turn signal, rolling through a stop sign and driving on the wrong side of the road.
A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Moon. Moon admitted to taking several medications at varying dosage levels and using methamphetamine within the past few days. Moon was observed to have impaired balance, to be disoriented, had erratic movements and a difficult time following instructions.
Moon consented to field sobriety and ARIDE testing and showed clues of impairment. An officer specialized in drug recognition also indicated Moon showed signs of impairment. Moon consented to provide a urine sample for chemical testing which was sent to the DCI lab.
Moon has a prior OWI conviction in June 2019 in Polk County.
Moon was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Becky A. Bochniak, 42, of Creston, was taken into custody 5:13 p.m. Jan. 31, at Adams and Oak streets on the charges of driving while suspended and possession of paraphernalia.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 5:06 p.m. a 2009 Ford Focus was observed being driven by Bochniak on Oak Street. Bochniak was found to have a suspended license.
A traffic stop was conducted and Bochniak’s license status was confirmed to be suspended. While speaking with Bochniak, she admitted a methamphetamine pipe was in the car. A probable-cause search was conducted and the pipe, which contained residue, was located in the center console.
Bochniak was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where she was cited and released on a summons to appear after a review of her criminal history.

Toby A. Crawford, 47, of Creston, was taken into custody 5:19 p.m. Jan. 31, at Sumner Avenue and Laurel Street on the charge of driving while revoked.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 5:13 p.m. Crawford was observed driving a 2013 Mazda CX5 westbound on Sumner Avenue. Crawford is known to have a revoked license due to an OWI charge.
A traffic stop was conducted and her status was confirmed to be revoked.
Crawford was cited and released on a summons to appear.

Danny P. Hacker, 73, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:06 p.m. Jan. 31, at Cherry and Harsh streets on the charges of OWI, first offense and interference with official acts.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 8:07 p.m. a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was observed southbound on Cherry Street by a northbound officer. Before meeting the patrol car, the Jeep turned on its high beams and left them on as the vehicle traveled toward the patrol unit.
A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Hacker, who immediately became belligerent, hostile and yelled profanities at the officer. He accused the officer of having his high beams on and was told the officer would show him the difference in his lights after he provided his identification and vehicle information, which Hacker refused to do. While yelling at the officer, the odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage was detected coming from his breath. Hacker had bloodshot, watery eyes slurred speech. When asked how much he had drank, he replied “too much.”
Hacker refused field sobriety testing and refused to provide a specimen for chemical testing.
He was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,300 cash or surety bond.

Trevor A. Miller, 34, of Lenox, was taken into custody 2:53 p.m. Feb. 1, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:14 a.m. a traffic stop was conducted on a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. The vehicle was stopped for traveling 34 mph in a 25 mph zone. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Miller, who was observed to have slurred speech, bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. He was observed to have impaired balance and made statements admitting to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to being stopped.
Miller consented to field sobriety testing and showed clues of impairment. A PBT indicated his BrAC to be above .08%.
He was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he refused to provide a specimen for chemical testing.
Miller was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Brandy D. Scheuermann, 47, of Winterset, was taken into custody 12:32 a.m. Feb. 2, at Highway 34 and Wyoming Avenue on the charges of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense; possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while suspended.
According to a Creston Police report, a 2008 Ford Taurus was stopped for a traffic violation. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Scheuermann, who was found to have a suspended license. Schuermann told officers there was a used needle in her purse. A probable cause search was conducted and a spoon, used needle and a marijuana pipe were located.
Scheuermann was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where she admitted to having a baggie of methamphetamine in her bra. The baggie was retrieved by a female officer.
Scheuermann was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $5,300 cash or surety bond.
