Aaron J. Cozad, 22, of Creston, was taken into custody Jan. 29 at Cherry and Howard streets on the charges of OWI, second offense and driving while revoked.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 10:47 p.m. a 2015 Ford F150 was observed northbound on Cherry Street. The truck is known by officers to belong to Cozad who has a revoked license due to an OWI. The F150 turned into an alley and parked behind a residence where Cozad and a passenger exited the truck and began walking away. Officers called out Cozad’s name and he stopped and spoke with them.
Cozad’s information was ran and he was confirmed to have a revoked license. Cozad was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where officers observed him to have bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Cozad admitted to having four mixed drinks at a local bar earlier in the evening.
Cozad refused to consent to field sobriety testing but did agree to take a PBT, the result of which indicated his BrAC to be above .08%. Cozad consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing, resulting in a BAC result of .122%.
Cozad was convicted of OWI Jan. 14, 2024, in Union County.
Cozad was transported tot he Union County Jail and held on $3,000 cash or surety.
