Brake malfunction causes crash in Creston

No citations were issued Thursday in a two-vehicle crash in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 7:06 p.m., a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by Julie L. Teague, 46, of Lenox, was southbound on Oak Street when it struck a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan legally parked on the east side of the street.

Teague told officers she was going around a car parked on the west side of the street when she hit the 2012 Dodge.

Damage to the 2012 Dodge was estimated at $3,000 and damage to the 2019 Dodge was estimated at $1,000.

No injuries were reported Wednesday when a brake malfunction caused more than $3,000 in damage in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 11:05 a.m., a 2004 Toyota Sienna, driven by Debra Blair, 64, of Osceola, was eastbound in Quality Inn parking lot in the 900 block of South Sumner Avenue when the Toyota’s brakes malfunctioned. The Toyota, unable to stop, continued east through a fence on the property, crossed South Sumner Avenue and came to rest in a private lot on the east side of the street.

Damage to the fence was estimated at $1,000 and damage to the Toyota was estimated at $2,500.
