Zackary C. Huddleson, 33, of Creston, was taken into custody 2:58 a.m. Dec. 14, in the 100 block of West Taylor Street on the charges of OWI, first offense, urinating in public and interference with official acts. He was additionally cited for failure to carry registration card; no proof of insurance; stopping, standing or parking where prohibited and open container - driver 21 or older.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:11 a.m. officers observed a 2020 Ford F250 at Fremont and Mulberry streets. The F250 stopped at a stop sign, parked and the driver, later identified as Huddleson, exited the truck, leaving it in the traveled portion of the street. As Huddleson walked away from the truck, he was observed stumbling.

When officers approached Huddleson to ask why he parked his truck there, he was observed to have slurred speech, bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Huddleson initially denied driving the truck and said it magically appeared at the intersection and he was just getting the keys from it. Huddleson later admitted to driving the truck and stopped it at the stop sign and got out to urinate. He pointed out a wet area in front of the truck, on a public road, as the location he had relieved himself.

When asked, Huddleson made statements about consuming alcohol. An open beer can was observed in the driver’s cup holder in the truck. Huddleson consented to field sobriety testing and showed numerous validated clues of impairment. He refused to consent to a PBT. Huddleson was said to be argumentative and belligerent with officers throughout the incident.

Huddleson consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing, the result of which indicated Huddleson to have a BAC of .139%.

Huddleson was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,600 cash or surety bond.

John D. Foster, 39, of Creston, was taken into custody 2:54 a.m. Dec. 15, in the 400 block of South Vine Street on the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense. He was additionally cited for open container - driver, 21 and older.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:16 a.m. officers observed Foster driving a 2000 Honda Accord at Vine and Lucas streets. A traffic stop was initiated due to Foster not having a valid license.

While speaking with Foster, the odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted and a THC vape pen was located in the Honda.

Foster was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.
