A Kellerton man was injured Friday in a two-vehicle crash in Union County.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 1:54 p.m. Nov. 29, a 2006 GMC Sierra pulling a car trailer, driven by Ryan W. Still, 43, of Mount Ayr, was northbound on Highway 169, near Nuthatch Avenue, at the same time a 2017 Dodge Ram, driven by Jeremiah D. Swietlik, 39, of Kellerton, was southbound.

Swietlik took his eyes off of the road to look for something in the vehicle, crossed the centerline and sideswiped the GMC, causing the trailer to become detached from the truck. Both the GMC and the trailer slid into the east ditch.

After hitting the GMC, Swietlik lost control of the Dodge, entered the east ditch, rolled and came to rest on the truck’s tires.

Swietlik complained of pain and possible injuries but did not receive medical care at the scene.

Damage to the Dodge was estimated at $10,000 and damage to the GMC and trailer was estimated at $3,500.
