No injuries were reported Thursday when a truck was hit by a turning semi in Union County.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 4:43 p.m., a 2019 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Marti R. Sutton, 25, of Corning, was westbound on 205th Street behind a 1997 Freightliner tractor trailer, driven by Grant M. Miller, 26, of Redding. Sutton noticed the semi slowed down but did not notice a turn signal, so Sutton attempted to pass the semi.

While the Tacoma was passing the semi, the semi turned south into the Tacoma. Miller stated the sun made it hard to see anything and by the time he saw the Tacoma it was too late to avoid the accident. Sutton was confident the semi did not have a turn signal on and Miller couldn’t remember if he had indicated his intent to turn by signaling.

Damage to the Tacoma was estimated at $2,000 and damage to the Freightliner was estimated at $800.
