Ashley N. Kalkas, 23, of Creston, was taken into custody 8:13 a.m. Nov. 18, in the 400 block of East Townline Street on the charge of driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, a traffic stop was conducted on a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu and contact was made with the driver, identified as Kalkas. It was discovered Kalkas had a suspended driver’s license.

Kalkas was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

Jennifer L. Ham, 39, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:35 p.m. Nov. 20, at Highway 34 and Laurel Street on the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, third or subsequent offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 8:47 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted on a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee for not having license plates. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Ham.

Creston Police K-9 Baxo arrived at the scene and was deployed for a free air sniff. Baxo gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics odor coming from the Grand Cherokee.

A probable cause search was conducted. Two syringes and a green leafy substance, consistent with marijuana, were located in the vehicle. One syringe was located in Ham’s purse and the marijuana and second syringe were found in a coat.

Ham made statements about all of the items being hers and about the syringes being for methamphetamine use.

Ham was transported to the Adams County Jail and held on $5,300 cash or surety bond.

Chris R. Pickering, 57, of Creston, was taken into custody 6:25 a.m. Nov. 21, at his residence on the charge of domestic abuse assault, second offense.

No information was available on the charge.

Pickering was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond until seen by the magistrate.
