Creston Police report - Nov. 5, 2024

Brandon J. Stone, 30, of Creston, was taken into custody 12:46 p.m. Nov. 4, in the 300 block of North Elm Street on two counts of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana and methamphetamine, third or subsequent offense and a Polk County warrant for the charge of parole violation.

According to a Creston Police report, a traffic stop was conducted on a 2005 Hyundai Accent for dark window tint and no seatbelt being worn by the passenger. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Stone.

Stone was found to have an active warrant in Polk County. The odor of marijuana was detected while speaking with the occupants of the Hyundai.

Creston Police Department K9 Baxo was deployed for a free air sniff. Baxo showed behavioral changes consistent with those shown during certification and training. A probable cause search was conducted and a plastic container with methamphetamine and marijuana was located next to the driver’s seat.

Stone was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond.

Caidan K. Morgan, 19, of Cedar Rapids, was taken into custody 12:39 a.m. Nov. 5, at Mckinley Lake on a Dickinson County warrant for the charge of harassment, first degree.

Morgan was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.
