Creston Police report - Oct. 14, 2024

William A. D. Bell, 32, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:15 a.m. Oct. 11, in the 900 block of North Sumner Street on two Union County warrants for the charges of violation of a no contact/protective order - contempt and domestic abuse assault - impeding the flow of air or blood. He was additionally charged with a second count of violation of a no contact/protective order - contempt.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were called to residence on Adams Street by a female who told them Bell had assaulted her the prior night but she was too scared to report it at the time. The victim stated Bell had come to her residence the night before after she asked him to. While he was there he had wanted her to perform a sexual act and she refused, causing Bell to get upset and throw something at her TV. The victim threw the item back at Bell and a struggle ensued.

While Bell was getting dressed, the victim said she tried to leave the apartment but Bell grabbed her, put her on the bed and choked her. The victim said she lost consciousness. Officers observed damage in the residence from the altercation. The victim had marks on her chin, bruising on her arms and a faint bruise on her neck, she also said she had welts on her backside from the assault.

The victim said Bell returned pretending to be his brother, but the victim refused to speak to him due to the active no contact order stating she could not have contact with his family either. When the victim thought Bell was gone she opened the door and saw his foot under a closet door in the hallway and told him she saw him and then slammed the door shut. The victim completed and returned a statement form to officers detailing the events.

Bell was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance after seeing the magistrate.

Samuel B. Munoz, 37, of Afton, was taken into custody 10:30 p.m. Oct. 11, in the 800 block of Laurel Street on the charge of OWI, second offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9:39 p.m. a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was stopped for having a headlight out. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Munoz, who had bloodshot, watery eyes and made statements about drinking earlier in the night.

Munoz consented to field sobriety testing and showed validated signs of impairment. A PBT taken by Munoz showed his BrAC over .08%.

Munoz was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result indicated Munoz to have a BAC of .141%. Munoz was convicted Sept. 6 of OWI in Union County.

Munoz was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Robbie A. Dohrn, 60, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:28 p.m. Oct. 12, at his residence on the charges of driving while barred and eluding.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 6:42 p.m. officers observed Dohrn driving a 1999 Yamaha motorcycle near the intersection of Elm and Page street. Dohrn is known to have a barred license. A traffic stop was initiated but Dohrn did not stop. He drove through a yard, into an alley and east on Fremont Street, exceeding 50 mph. Dohrn then pulled into an alley on Birch Street behind his residence where he was taken into custody.

Dohrn admitted to throwing methamphetamine he had in his pocket during the chase.

Dohrn was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $7,000 cash or surety bond.

Edgar O. Mendez Lopez, 36, of Creston, was taken into custody 4:54 p.m. Oct. 12, at Patriotic Parkway and Park Street on the charges of OWI, second offense and four counts of child endangerment.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:17 p.m. officers stopped a 2012 Ford Mustang for not having a front license plate displayed. When officers approached the vehicle, the driver, identified as Mendez Lopez had to be told to roll down his window, after he rolled it down a little, he was asked to roll it down further which he ignored and began handing officers his information.

Mendez Lopez had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, droopy eyelids and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. He consented to field sobriety testing and showed numerous validated clues of impairment. A PBT indicated his BrAC to be over .08%. Four children were in the car at the time, placing all of them in substantial risk of harm.

Mendez Lopez was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he refused to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. He was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $10,000 cash or surety bond.

Travis J. Klos, 39, of Afton, was taken into custody 10:38 p.m. Oct. 12, at Grand Avenue and Iriving Street on the charge of driving while barred.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 10:32 p.m. Klos was observed driving a 2006 Ford Fusion. Klos is known not to have a license. Officers ran his information and discovered his license was barred. A traffic stop was conducted and Klos was taken into custody.

Klos was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Derik W. B. Pickrell, 39, of Fontanelle, was taken into custody 2:52 a.m. Oct. 13, at Adams and Sumner streets on the charge of driving while barred.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:38 a.m. officers stopped a 1991 Ford F150 for multiple equipment violations. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Pickrell, who said he did not have a license. Pickrell’s information was ran and it was discovered he had a barred license.

Pickrell was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

John E. Major, 50, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:08 p.m. Oct. 13, in the 800 block of South Cherry Street on the charge of domestic abuse assault - first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 6:10 p.m. officers responded to a reported assault. Major and the victim had been in a verbal argument which turned physical when Major pushed the victim to the couch and held the victim down. A relative of the victim, who was in another room at the time the fight began, came out and pulled Major off of the victim.

Major was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond until seen by the magistrate.
