Creston Police report - Oct. 2, 2024

Noah A. Young, 25, of Creston, was taken into custody 11 a.m. Oct. 1, in the 1500 block of North Lincoln Street on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Policer report, a suspicious male was reported entering the community building of an apartment complex. When officers arrived, there was music coming from the bathroom in the building. They knocked on the locked bathroom door and a male, believed to be Young responded. Officers gave multiple commands to exit the bathroom but Young was slow to do so. While still in the bathroom, officers heard the back of the top off of the back of the toilet and then but it back on.

When Young finally exited the bathroom he was detained and placed in the back of a patrol car. Officers took the lid off of the back of the toilet and located a pipe. There was also marijuana residue on the toilet seat, consistent with the substance being flushed. Young denied flushing anything but did say he had smoked in the bathroom, although there was no odor detected by officers.

Young told officers he had a rolled dollar bill inside of his backpack with something in it. The backpack was searched at the jail and two other pipes were located as well as the rolled up bill, which did not have any substance or residue in it.

Young was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear after being seen by the magistrate.

Zoe P. M. Hull, 22, and Christopher G. Selvy, 22, both of Creston, were taken into custody 2:25 p.m. Oct. 1, in the 400 block of West Lucas Street on the charge of violation of a no contact/protective order - contempt. Hull was additionally charged with interference with official acts.

According to Creston Police reports, the fire department responded to a residence for a smoke alarm. Officers in the area also responded and yelled in an open window asking if everyone was okay. A female voice answered which officers recognized to be Hull, who is not supposed to be at the residence. Through the window, officers observed female legs under the blinds and detected the odor of marijuana then the female quickly moved out of view.

A male, identified as Selvy come outside and spoke to officers. He was asked to have the female come out. Selvy went back inside and came out a short time later and told officers there wasn’t a female in the house. Selvy became hostile and told officers to leave. Officers then observed Hull running from the west side of the house through the back yard. Officers located Hull hiding under a vehicle. Hull told officers Selvy told her to run from the house and she said the only reason she was at the residence was due to the alarm going off and being unable to get it to shut off.

Hull and Selvy were transported to the Union County Jail where Hull was released from on $600 cash or surety bond and Selvy was released on $300 cash or surety bond.

Christopher L. Breece, 45, of Bridgewater, was taken into custody 11:20 p.m. Oct. 1, at Lincoln and Townline streets on the charge of driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, officers stopped a 1998 Chevrolet pickup and contact was made with the driver, identified as Breece. Breece was found to be have a suspended license.

Breece was cited and released on a summons to appear.

Michael D. D. Kirkpatrick, 31, of West Olive, Michigan, was taken into custody 12:19 a.m. Oct. 2, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report officers stopped a 2022 Ford Maverick at Fremont and Sumner streets for traveling 32 mph in a 25 mph zone. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Kirkpatrick, who had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. He made statements about consuming alcohol earlier in the day and had a beer at a local bar approximately an hour prior to being stopped.

Kirkpatrick refused all field sobriety testing and PBT. He was transported to the law center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result indicated Kirkpatrick to have a BAC of .190%.

Kirkpatrick was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
