Creston Police report - Sept. 4, 2024

Brian W. Zimmerman, 46, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:27 a.m. Aug. 31, at Spruce and Adams streets on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:02 a.m. a 2004 Ford Explorer was stopped and contact was made with the driver, identified as Zimmerman. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected coming from the vehicle. Zimmerman had slurred speech and admitted to having “a few” drinks.

He was asked to step out of the vehicle and almost fell as he did. Zimmerman consented to field sobriety testing and attempted all tests but was unable to perform the tests as instructed. He consented to a PBT and produced a result of over .08%.

Zimmerman was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The test resulted in a BAC of .228%.

Zimmerman was released from the Union County Jail after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Liliana Aguilar Preciado, 18, of Mount Ayr, was taken into custody 3:11 a.m. Aug. 31, at Highway 34 and Iris Avenue on the charge of driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, Aguilar Preciado was the driver of 2014 Ford Focus and has a suspended license.

Aguilar Preciado was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

William A. D. Bell, 32, of Creston, was taken into custody 3:07 p.m. Aug. 31, in the 600 block of Wet Adams Street on the charge of domestic abuse assault - impeding flow of air or blood.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:40 p.m. a domestic disturbance was reported. Initially officers were told a female could not get a male off of her, then it was reported a male was attempting to restrain a female.

When officers arrived, a female victim told officers the male, identified as Bell, had pinned her to the bed and choked her. The pressure Bell put on the victim’s neck and throat impeded the victim’s normal breathing. She had visible red marks on various spots of her neck, consistent with her account of the events.

Bell was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Tanner D. Horacek, 18, of Blair, Nebraska, was taken into custody 11:09 p.m. Aug. 31, at Maple and Adams streets on the charge of minor in possession of alcohol by person age 18/19/20.

According to a Creston Police report, officers stopped a 2001 Toyota Tundra. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Horacek, and a can of tobacco was observed in the truck. Horacek is not of legal age to possess tobacco.

A probable cause search of the truck was conducted during which, a bottle of Fireball was discovered. Horacek took ownership of the alcohol.

Horacek was cited and released on a summons to appear.

Thomas L. Wiggins, 34, of Greenfield, was taken into custody 12:25 a.m. Sept. 1, at Elm and Montgomery streets on the charge of driving while barred.

According to a Creston Police report, Wiggins was the driver of a 2005 Dodge Ram stopped by officers. Wiggins has a barred license.

Wiggins was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Ryan L. Woosley, 41, of Des Moines, was taken into custody 1:54 a.m. Sept. 1, in the 100 block of West Taylor Street on the charge of driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:42 a.m. Woosley was observed driving a 2005 Harley Davidson Dyna Wide Glide. A check of Woosley’s license status showed him to have a barred license.

Woosley was approached by officers at Casey’s General Store, where he was taken into custody.

Woosley was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Geronimo R. Gonzalez Hernandez, 31, of Osceola, was taken in to custody 2:31 a.m. Sept. 1, in the 100 block of West Taylor Street on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:52 a.m. officers observed a 2013 Chevrolet 1500 enter the Casey’s parking lot off of Taylor Street. The driver, later identified as Gonzalez Hernandez, did not have a seatbelt on. The truck parked at an angle, taking up two parking spaces.

Officers made contact with Gonzalez Hernandez, who had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech impaired balance and a very strong odor of consumed alcoholic beverage coming from his person. He admitted to drinking five or six beers.

Gonzalez Hernandez consented to field sobriety testing and showed numerous validated clues of impairment. He refused consent for PBT.

Gonzalez Hernandez was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing, resulting in a BAC of .179%.

Gonzalez Hernandez was released from the Union County Jail after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Carlos I. Cortez, 28, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:44 p.m. Sept. 1, at Adams Street and New York Avenue on the charge of driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:36 p.m. officers stopped a 2011 Infiniti G37. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Cortez. Cortez has a suspended license.

Cortez was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Jeffrey M. D. Drake, 37, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:12 p.m Sept. 1, in the 600 block of West Adams Street on the charges of driving while suspended and OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 8:54 p.m. a 2007 Ford Taurus was observed stopped at a stop sign at Jarvis and Adams Street on the wrong side of the street. The Taurus turned east onto Adams Street where it crossed the center line before turning north onto Spruce Street.

A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Drake, who was speaking rapidly and making fast jerky movements. A check of his licensen status showed him to be suspended. After stepping out of his vehicle, Drake’s movements became more erratic. When placed in the patrol car, Drake began screaming and shaking the entire patrol unit. Drake was sweating profusely despite a temperature of 59 degrees.

Drake’s roommate arrived at the scene to pick up the vehicle and told officers this was not normal behavior for Drake.

Drake consented to field sobriety testing and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement tests and showed numerous validated clues and indicators of impairment. He refused to provide a urine sample for chemical testing.

Drake was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,300 cash or surety bond.

At approximately 11:56 p.m. Aug. 31, Shannon Reed of Prescott reported someone had stole a bag and set of car keys out of her vehicle while parked in the 100 block of Manor Drive.

Estimated loss of taken items is $40.
