Creston Police report - Aug. 26, 2024

Brady G. Richert, 45, of Creston, was taken into custody 2:24 p.m. Aug. 23, in the 300 block of North Maple Street on the charge of willful injury - causing serious injury and interference with official acts.

According to a Creston Police report, officers responded to a physical domestic disturbance and found a female victim outside on the ground with injuries to her face. The suspect, identified as Richert, was inside and covered in food and sweat.

Richert told officers the victim was crazy and he was forced to subdue her. The victim said after she invited Richert inside of her residence he became out of control. When she attempted to leave, he grabbed her by the back of the head and slammed her face into stairs, knocking out two of her front teeth. The injuries observed by officers were consistent with the victims account of the incident.

After being transported to the law enforcement center, Richert pulled away from officers and became combative. Officers had to pin Richert against an elevator wall to stop him from assaulting them. He also threatened to head-butt officers.

Richert is being held in the Union County Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.

Bradley A. St. Pierre, 35, of Creston, was taken into custody 2:17 a.m. Aug. 24 in the 300 block of South Birch Street on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:50 a.m. a 2017 Chevrolet Cruz was observed leaving Casey’s General Store. The Cruz appeared to roll through a stop sign as it turned onto Taylor Street and drive on the center double yellow line. Officers got behind the Cruz as it turned north onto Walnut Street. After two blocks, the Cruz turned east on Fremont Street and then north on Birch Street, where it accelerated at a high rate of speed.

Officers initiated a traffic stop, but the Cruz continued at a high rate of speed through two intersections before pulling over. Contact was made with the driver, identified as St. Pierre, and a female passenger. A strong odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage was detected coming from the vehicle. St. Pierre admitted to consuming a few drinks but could not tell officers how many.

Initially, St. Pierre said he did not want to complete any field sobriety tests but after a test was explained he consented to one test and showed clues of impairment. He refused two other tests for medical reasons. St. Pierre refused a PBT. He was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he refused to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing.

St. Pierre was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash bond.

Darrell C. Beaman, 36, of Creston, was taken into custody 5:14 p.m. Aug. 24, at his residence on a Union County warrant for the charge of violation of parole.

According to a Union County District Court document, Beaman violated conditions of his parole by being around minors at a birthday party without approval, an allegation he initially denied until being shown a picture of himself at the party. It was discovered Beaman had unapproved contact with minors on multiple occasions, including allowing a minor to spend the night as his residence while he was in the home. Beaman admitted to leaving the county and the state on different occasions without approval.

Beaman was found to have an unapproved social media account which was not registered with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry as well as two email addresses which were not registered. During a search of Beaman’s phone parole agents discovered pictures of minors, some of which Beaman knew, others he did not. Beaman also admitted to searching pornographic material on his phone.

Beaman was transported to the Union County Jail without bond until seen by a judge.

Christopher G. Selvy, 22, of Creston, was taken into custody 3:52 p.m. Aug. 25, at Howard and Chestnut streets on the charge of assault and a Union County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:50 p.m. Selvy assaulted a male victim in the 400 block of West Lucas Street by striking him in the face multiple times.

According to Union County District Court documents, Selvy was ordered to appear Aug. 16 for arraignment on the original charge and did not.

Selvy was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $1,000 cash only and $300 cash or surety bond.
