Thomas J. Blobaum, 38, of Creston, was taken into custody 2:32 a.m. Aug. 15, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 11:25 p.m. Aug. 14, a 2006 GMC Canyon with a brake light out was observed northbound on Lincoln Street, near Orchard Street. The GMC turned around in a parking lot and proceeded southbound and then pulled over to the side of the road near where officers were sitting in a marked patrol unit.

A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Blobaum, who had dilated pupils, bloodshot, watery eyes and appeared very nervous. Blobaum also had raised heat bumps on the back of his tongue. Blobaum told officers of several prescription medicines he was taking he believed may be affecting him.

Blobaum consented to field sobriety testing and showed validated clues of impairment. He also consented to ARIDE testing and showed indicators of impairment on those tests. Blobaum refused to provide a urine sample for chemical testing.

Blobaum was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Anthony R. Cross, 33, of Creston, was taken into custody 5:14 a.m. Aug. 15, in the 500 block of North Cherry Street on a Union County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of burglary, third degree.

According to Union County District Court documents, Cross was ordered to appear Aug. 13, for an initial appearance on the original charge and did not.

Cross was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $5,000 cash only bond and the bond posted on the original charge was forfeited.
