Ryan J. Corder, 29, of Storm Lake, was taken into custody 12:42 p.m. Aug. 7, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on a Union County warrant for the charges of theft, third degree and theft, fifth degree.

According to a Creston Police report, Walmart reported two separate thefts occurring April 16 and May 1. During the first theft, a male, later identified as Corder, scanned $80.93 in merchandise while checking out but bagged and walked out of the store with $232.38 in merchandise.

On May 1, Corder again scanned only a few items but failed to scan or pay for $824.55 in merchandise.

Corder was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,300 cash or surety bond.

Christopher M. Phipps Jr., 37, of Creston, was taken into custody 8:20 p.m. Aug. 9, in the 800 block of West Taylor Street on the charges of interference with official acts and public intoxication.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 8 p.m. Aug. 9, a disruptive, highly intoxicated male was reported at a motel on Sumner Street. When officers arrived, motel staff said the male was at another building attempting to get in. Officers observed the male, identified as Phipps, attempting to enter the motel with a card card instead of a key card. He told officers he had consumed a bottle of Fireball.

When officers attempted to handcuff Phipps, he physically resisted. Phipps had to be forced by officers into a patrol car and to walk in the law enforcement center.

Phipps was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Levi J. Henry, 21, of Ellston, was taken into custody 4:32 a.m. Aug. 11, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, second offense.

According to a Creston Police report, a 2016 GMC pickup was observed traveling 66 mph in a 45 mph zone on Highway 34. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Henry, who appeared lethargic and had slurred speech. The odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected coming from the vehicle and multiple open containers were observed inside.

Henry consented to field sobriety testing and showed clues of impairment. He refused a PBT and to provide a breath sample for chemical testing. Henry also made statements about recently consuming marijuana.

Henry has a prior OWI conviction in.

Henry was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Tylor J. Rains, 24, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:31 p.m. Aug. 11, in the 400 block of North Sycamore Street on the charge of domestic abuse assault.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9:05 p.m. officers were called to a residence for an active domestic dispute. When law enforcement arrived, they observed a male, identified as Rains, fighting with a female. After speaking with both subjects and a witness, Rains was taken into custody.

Rains was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $300 cash or surety bond.
