Adams County arrests - Aug. 7, 2024

John A. Neely, 49, of Corning, was taken into custody 4:07 p.m. July 26, on an Adams County warrant for the charge of violation of probation.

According to an Iowa Department of Correctional Services report, June 13, 2023, Neely was convicted of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, first offense and was given a suspended sentence with one year of probation.

Between June 21 and Nov. 3, 2023, Neely violated the terms of his probation with two drug tests which were positive for methamphetamines, a self-reported methamphetamine use and by missing five scheduled probation meetings.

Neely was transported to the Adams County Jail and held on $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Devin Heimke, 31 of Corning, was taken into custody July 27, at Casey’s General Store in Corning on the charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication and interference with official acts.

According to an Adams County report, at approximately 4:51 p.m. an intoxicated male was reported at the gas station who had got into someone’s car without consent and was harassing the people in the car. Officers located the male, identified as Heimke, who had the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, was very aggressive and was unable to walk or talk normally. Heimke was yelling at a male in a vehicle making gestures indicating he wanted to fight him.

He repeatedly told deputies he wanted to bury them if he was taken to jail. Heimke refused to put his hands behind his back to be handcuffed and had to be forced into a patrol vehicle. At the jail, Heimke was placed in a restraint chair for officer safety after he made threats to head-butt staff.

Heimke was transported to the Adams County Jail where he was released from after posting $900 cash bond.

Janie Ray, 59, of Mexico, Missouri, and Phillip Hutchinson, 58, of New Florence, Missouri, were taken into custody July 30, at U.S. Highway 148. Both were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, Ray was charged with a second offense and Hutchinson was charged with a third or subsequent offense. Hutchinson was cited for no valid drivers license.

According to an Adams County report, at approximately 5:11 p.m. deputies stopped a 1999 Ford F150. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Hutchinson, and the passenger, identified as Ray, who was also the owner of the truck. Ray was asked if anything illegal was in the truck and she handed deputies a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine.

A probable cause search of the truck, assisted by K9 Midge, produced a baggie of a clear crystal-like substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Ray and Hutchinson were transported to the Adams County Jail where Ray was released from after posting $2,000 surety bond and Hutchinson is being held on $5,300 cash only bond.
