Tracey L. Mylan, 43, of Afton, was arrested 4:03 p.m. Aug. 5, at Highway 34 and Vine Street on the charges of OWI, first offense and child endangerment.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:03 p.m. two individuals at Walmart were reported to law enforcement because both were having difficulty walking normally and were believed to be impaired. Officers observed the subjects vehicle, a GMC Sierra, leaving the parking lot and followed the vehicle for observation. The vehicle made sudden movements within its lane and had a cracked windshield.
A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Mylan, and an adult male passenger. A 3-year-old and 16-year old were in the backseat of the vehicle. Officers believed both adults to be under the influence, possibly of methamphetamine. Mylan and the male made fast jerky movements, quickly moving things around looking for identification and Mylan was fiddling with her fingers.
Mylan was transported to the law enforcement center for further testing due to the heat and to calm her down from the situation with the male, identified as her spouse. After being transported, Mylan consented to field sobriety testing and showed clues of impairment. A PBT indicated her BrAC at 0.00. She consented to provide a urine sample for chemical testing but took two attempts to provide an adequate sample.
Two officers certified as Drug Recognition Experts (DRE) arrived, evaluated Mylan and believed her to be under the influence of cannabis and a stimulant.
Mylan was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $3,000 cash or surety bond.

Michael R. Meek, 41, of Creston, was taken into custody 11 p.m. Aug. 5, at Adams and Maple streets on the charge of driving while suspended.
According to a Creston Police report, Meek was observed operating a 2001 Chevrolet S10 on Adams Street. Meek has a suspended license.
Meek was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.
