Antoine W. Lillie, 18, of Creston, was taken into custody 10:39 p.m. July 29, in the 200 block of South Lincoln Street on the charges of driving while barred and eluding - speeds over 25 mph over limit.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 6:09 p.m. officers observed a motorcycle southbound on South Lincoln Street, being operated by Lillie, who is known to have a barred license. When officers turned around to conduct a traffic stop, the motorcycle accelerated at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle continued to speed up, reaching speeds of 98 mph in areas where the maximum speed limit is 55 mph. The motorcycle continued westbound on gravel, where it passed a pickup and trailer going over a hill in a no passing zone, at speeds of 70 mph. Due to safety concerns for the driver and passenger of the motorcycle, the pursuit was terminated.

Later in the evening, a vehicle in which Lillie was reported to be in was called in for following another car around. The vehicle and Lillie were located at a Creston residence.

Lillie made statements to officers about driving a motorcycle with his friend on the back but denied eluding police. The passenger on the motorcycle, a juvenile, told officers a similar story. Officers then spoke with two other juveniles, who said they had picked up Lillie and the juvenile passenger near Cromwell on a gravel road after receiving a call from Lillie, who sounded panicked.

Lillie was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $7,000 cash or surety bond.
