Creston Police report - June 29, 2024

Michael S. Cox, 30, of Lorimor, was taken into custody 4:33 p.m. July 26, in the 1500 block of Cherry Street Road on the charges of driving while barred and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:28 p.m. officers observed a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder at Cherry and Townline streets with an inoperable center brake light. A traffic stop was initiated but the Pathfinder traveled approximately a half-mile before pulling over. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Cox, who admitted to having a barred license.

Creston Police K9 Baxo was deployed and alerted to the odor of narcotics. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and a glass pipe containing a white residue was located wrapped in shirt on the passenger seat. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Cox was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Arturo Marin, 40, of Afton, was taken into custody 6:11 p.m. July 26, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on a Union County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of driving while revoked.

According to Union County District Court documents, Marin was ordered to appear in court July 26, for arraignment on the original charge and did not.

Marin was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Robert B. Girard, 43, homeless, was taken into custody 10:41 p.m. July 28, at Division and Lucas streets on the charges of theft, fifth degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Walmart employees reported a theft had occurred at the store and described the male subject who had taken several packages of Pokemon cards without paying for them. Officers located a male matching the description, later identified as Girard.

Initially Girard gave officers a false name. Girard gave officers his backpack to search and handed them a marijuana pipe out of his pocket. Inside the backpack, officers located two boxes of cards and a can of dusting spray, all of which Girard admitted to taking from Walmart. The total value of the items was $114.43.

Girard was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $600 cash or surety bond.

Kyler R. Wiece, 35, of Salt Lake City, Utah, was taken into custody 6:45 p.m. July 28, on two Union County warrants for the charges of failure to appear on the original charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense and failure to appear on the original charge of public intoxication.

According to Union County District Court documents, Wiece was to appear Aug. 24, 2018, for arraignment on the possession charge and did not. He was appear Oct. 23, 2018, for a pre-trial conference on the intoxication charge and did not.

Wiece was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear after his initial appearance.
