Terrill Joseph Weinkoetz, 57, of Afton, was taken into custody July 24, on the charges of OWI, second offense; driving while revoked and interference with official acts - bodily injury.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 1:41 a.m. deputies observed a John Deere Gator southbound on High School Drive operated by Weinkoetz, who deputies knew does not have a valid license. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with Weinkoetz, who had bloodshot, watery eyes and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. An open beer and a cold unopened beer were observed on the floor board of the Gator.

Weinkoetz admitted to having two or three beers in the beer garden at the fair. After attempting one field sobriety test multiple times and being unable to perform the test, he refused all other testing including a PBT. Deputies confirmed his license to be revoked.

When Weinkoetz was told he was being placed under arrest he told deputies he was leaving in his Gator and attempted to walk away and get in the UTV. When told to place his hands behind his back, he did not comply and resisted deputies attempts to take him into custody. While attempting to take him into custody, a deputy suffered a minor injury during the struggle.

Weinkoetz was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The test result indicated Weinkoetz to have a BAC of .260%. Weinkoetz has a prior OWI conviction in May 2023 in Union County.

Weinkoetz was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $10,000 cash or surety bond.
