Sandra J. Bruce, 71, of Creston, was taken into custody 4:45 p.m. July 12, in the 100 block of South Jarvis Street on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4 p.m. officers went to Bruce’s residence to follow up on a prior case. When officers entered the porch of the residence they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the house.
After officers completed their follow up information, they asked Bruce about the odor. She admitted she and her husband smoke marijuana on a weekly basis and produced a baggy of marijuana and a marijuana pipe.
Bruce was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

Nicki R. Jones, 41, of Creston, was taken into custody 8:43 p.m. July 12, in the 600 block of Sheldon Street on the charge of driving while barred.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 8:25 p.m. officers stopped a 2009 Pontiac G5 for not having any license plates. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Jones. Jones was discovered to have a barred license. A temporary restricted license was also issued to Jones but she did not have the required accompanying paperwork with her or proof of insurance for the car.
Jones was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

Irene Pantoja, 33, of Creston, was taken into custody 3:37 a.m. July 13, in the 800 block of South Walnut Street on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to a Creston Policer report, at approximately 2:04 a.m. officers stopped a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox for having expired registration. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Pantoja, who had watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath.
Pantoja admitted to consuming alcohol and had unopened alcohol containers in the vehicle. She consented to field sobriety testing and showed signs of impairment. Pantoja consented to a PBT, which indicated a BrAC of over .08%.
She was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where she refused to provide a breath sample for chemical testing.
Pantoja was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond. She was cited for a registration violation and failure to provide proof of financial responsibility (no insurance).

Scott B. Spurrier, 58, of Orient, was taken into custody 2:42 a.m. July 14, in the 300 block of Russell Street on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:10 a.m. officers observed a 2007 Honda motorcycle make a wide turn from Sumner Street onto Adams Street. While turning, the Honda went across the dotted line, came back and crossed the the double yellow center line. The Honda was weaving in its lane. The Honda then turned west onto Russell Street where it continued to weave in its lane and cross the center line.
A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Spurrier. Spurrier was asked to get off the motorcycle and while doing so, was observed to have impaired balance. When Spurrier removed his helmet, the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected coming from his person.
Spurrier admitted to consuming several alcoholic drinks at a local bar. He consented to some field sobriety tests, which showed clues of impairment. He refused some of the testing for medical reasons.
Spurrier consented to a PBT and after providing five inadequate samples, produced a BrAC result of over .08%. He was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result indicated a BAC of .198%.
Spurrier was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Juan C. Villegas Jr, 23, of McAllen, Texas, was taken into custody 3:50 a.m. July 14, at the Quality Inn on the charge of public intoxication.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 3:09 a.m. officers were called to the motel for a large party and an assault. When they arrived, hotel staff identified two males who were involved, one was identified as Villegas.
Villegas told officers an arguement had occurred but not a fight. While speaking with Villegas, he was observed to have bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, impaired balance and a strong odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage on his breath.
Villegas was told by officers to go back to his room multiple times. He refused to do so and continued to walk around the parking lot. He consented to a PBT, with a result indicating a BrAC of .272%.
Villegas was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

Jessica L. Palmer, 38, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:08 p.m. July 14, in the 600 block of Wyoming Avenue on the charge of assault - general.
According to a Creston Police report, Palmer slapped an adult male in the mouth during a verbal altercation. Palmer admitted to striking the victim after the victim’s girlfriend insulted her.
Palmer was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.
