Creston Police report - June 24, 2024

Jill D. Lozano, 50, of Colorado, was taken into custody 1:35 p.m. June 21, in the 800 block of Laurel Street on a Wapello County warrant for the charges of forgery and unauthorized use of a credit card under $1,500.

No details were available on the charges.

Lozano was transported to the Clarke County Jail and held on $5,000 cash or surety bond or transport to Wapello County.

Jose A. Garza, 53, of Ottumwa, was taken into custody 2:22 p.m. June 21, in the 800 block of Laurel Street on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while revoked and a Wapello County warrant for the charge of unauthorized use of a credit card under $1,500.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:35 p.m. a male, later identified as Garza, was observed not wearing a seat belt while operating a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado at Laurel Street and Highway 34. A traffic stop was conducted. Garza told officers he did not have a valid license. It was confirmed Garza had a revoked license. He also said he had a methamphetamine pipe in the truck. Officers located a homemade glass bong in a backpack belonging to Garza.

No information was available on the Wapello County warrant.

Garza was cited and released on the Creston charges, transported to the Clarke County Jail and held on $2,000 cash or surety bond or transport to Wapello County.

Jeremiah L. Whitney, 23, of Creston, was taken into custody 6:12 p.m. June 21, at his residence on the charge of driving while barred.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 6:02 p.m. Whitney was observed at Lincoln and Mills streets operating an unregistered Honda four-wheeler while his license was barred.

Whitney was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

Nicole A. Siders, 39, of Creston, was taken into custody 2:49 a.m. June 22, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:56 a.m. officers had a consensual encounter with Siders, who was operating a 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel at Irving and Oak streets. Siders made statements about consuming alcohol at a local bar prior to the stop, had slurred speech, bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. There was also an open alcoholic container in the Ram.

Siders refused to perform all field sobriety tests at the scene. She was transported to the Union County Jail where she consented to provide a breath sample for chemical testing. The result indicated a BAC of .130%.

Siders was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Brady G. Richert, 45, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:56 p.m. June 22, in the 300 block of North Sycamore Street on the charge of public intoxication.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 7:31 p.m. a male, later identified as Richert, was reported after he approached individuals, made odd statements and made an offensive gesture to them before walking away. Richert had a clear alcoholic container in his hand. Officers observed Richert standing on a public sidewalk, holding and drinking from a peppermint schnapps bottle. When contact was made with Richert, he had slurred speech, bloodshot, watery eyes and impaired balance.

Richert refused a PBT.

Richert was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash bond.

Kelsey N. Moore, 31, of Orient, was taken into custody 12:47 a.m. June 23, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:47 a.m. a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stopped on Highway 25 for traveling without headlights or taillights when required. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Moore, who made statements about consuming alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening at a local bar. She consented to a PBT, which resulted in a BrAC of over .08%.

Moore was transported to the law enforcement center where she consented to provide a breath sample for chemical testing, results indicated a BAC of .095%.

Moore was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Keifird K. Griffith, 25, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was taken into custody 4:13 a.m. June 23, in the 400 block of Wyoming Street on the charges of public intoxication; harassment, second degree - threaten bodily injury; disorderly conduct - fighting/violent behavior and assault with intent to cause pain or injury.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 3:30 a.m. Casey’s General Store on Taylor Street reported an intoxicated male in the store who was causing a disturbance. The male, later identified as Griffith, threw a drink at store employees, striking an employee and causing the drink to spill everywhere. He harassed workers and went behind the counter where he was not authorized to be. He also made threatening statements to an employee, threatening them with bodily harm. Griffith was asked to leave the store.

Officers located Griffith, who matched the description given by Casey’s, walking down the middle of Highway 25. Griffith had slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. He would not provide a response on submitting to a PBT and was recorded as refusing consent.

Griffith was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,900 cash or surety bond.

Griffith was taken into custody for a second time, at 4:43 p.m. at Casey’s General Store on Taylor Street for the charge of disorderly conduct, loud raucous noise. He was cited for the charge of trespass.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:27 p.m. after being trespassed from Casey’s, Griffith went back to the store, yelled at employees and tried to walk in the kitchen area of the store. His behavior alarmed both customers and employees.

He was again transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

Robert C. Murphy, 33, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:06 a.m. June 24, in the 100 block of West Taylor Street on the charge of driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:54 a.m. Murphy was observed operating a 2003 Chevrolet Venture on Maple Street. Murphy has a suspended license.

Murphy was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

Jack A. Butler, 18, of Creston, was taken into custody 2:10 a.m. June 24, at the Creston Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charges of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:16 a.m. Butler was found to be in a parked vehicle at McKinley Park after hours. A vape pen was observed in plain view which Butler is under age to possess. Butler was observed to have slow, lethargic speech and movements and showed clues of impairment.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Officers located two roaches, a grinder with residue, multiple vape/THC pens and a THC gummy bag with residue. Also located close by the vehicle was a pipe and THC wax. Butler made statements indicating all of the items were his as well as admissions to using marijuana.

Butler was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance after seeing the magistrate.
