Creston Police report - June 17, 2024

Elisa R. Savala, 33, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:20 a.m. June 14, at 300 N. Pine St. on a Union County warrant for violation of no contact/protection order.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:34 p.m. May 31, Savala was observed on camera at the county courthouse with a male, identified as a protected party in a protection order against Savala. The two were seated together outside of the courtroom casually talking. The protection order was confirmed by law enforcement.

Savala was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from on her own recognizance after seeing the magistrate.

Calvin Cerda, 21, of Lenox, was taken into custody 7 p.m. June 14, at the intersection of Adams and Oak streets on the charge of driving while revoked.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 6:53 p.m. officers observed a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado being driven by Cerda. Cerda is known to officers to not have a valid license. A traffic stop was conducted and Cerda was confirmed to be the driver and to have a revoked license.

Cerda was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Brandie S. Whitney, 46, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:43 p.m. June 15, in the 300 block of West Adams Street on a Union County warrant for the charge of possession of a firearm or offensive weapon by a felon.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 3:04 a.m. March 15, to a residence in the 400 block of West Lucas Street for a domestic disturbance. It was learned during the disturbance, the female, identified as Whitney, retrieved a firearm she had in her possession, which was observed by officers. The weapon was seized for safekeeping during the incident. while officers were at the residence, dispatch was unable to run criminal histories on those involved. Later in the day, criminal history information was returned and showed Whitney had been convicted of felony charges in September 2018 in Adair County. Due to this, she is unable to possess a firearm legally.

Whitney was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $5,000 cash or surety bond.

Jose R. Flores, 38, of Creston was taken into custody 12:46 a.m. June 16, in the 500 block of North Vine Street on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, officers made contact with a UTV which had been reported for driving recklessly. The driver, identified as Flores, admitted to having four or five drinks at the bar and the vehicle had the odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage emitting from it. An open beer container was located in the vehicle.

Flores consented to field sobriety testing and showed clues of impairment. He refused a PBT. He was transported to the law enforcement center where he refused to provide a breath sample for chemical testing.

Flores was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Charles H. Abell, 50, of Macksburg, was taken into custody 3 a.m. June 16 at Adams and Elm streets on the charge of driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:32 a.m., officers observed a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with expired registration stickers (in 2022) traveling on Adams Street.

A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Abell. He was found to have a suspended license.

Abell was cited and released from the scene on a summons to appear.
