Creston Police report - June 6, 2024

Quinton L. Kimball, 33, of Creston was taken into custody 7:57 p.m. June 5, in the 300 block of West Adams Street on a Union County warrant for the charge of violation of parole.

According to an Iowa Department of Correctional Services report, while on parole Kimball produced seven positive urine tests and was absent twice from a court ordered sexual offender treatment group between Dec. 20 and May 13.

Kimball was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond.

Kevin W. Rauch, 39, of Creston, was taken into custody 6:01 p.m. June 5, in the 1700 block of West Townline Street on the charge of assault on persons in certain occupations with the intent to cause injury.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 5:36 p.m. an assault in progress, in which staff was being assaulted, was reported at the hospital. When officers arrived the parties had been separated. The victim, a paramedic and employee of the hospital, stated Rauch had been told to go back into his room and did but a short time later, came back out and charged the victim, who was working at a computer in the nurses station.

The victim was able to stand up before being pushed over the desk and onto a computer. Rauch then put his arms around the victim’s neck and put the victim in a headlock for several seconds before the victim was able to escape. The victim had cuts on his face, neck and arm from the assault. Rauch and the victim continued to physically struggle until other staff were able to get them separated.

Witnesses gave similar statements to the victims account. Rauch made statements about an assault occurring but said he was the one attacked first.

Rauch was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $5,000 cash or surety bond.
