Creston Police report - June 3, 2024

Juan A. German Estrada, 26, of Creston, was taken into custody 3:24 a.m. June 1, was taken into custody at the intersection of Highway 25 and Townline Street on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:53 a.m. officers stopped a 2015 GMC Terrain which did not have a license plate displayed and was observed driving on the center yellow line before changing lanes.

The driver, identified as German Estrada, had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. German Estrada admitted to having three drinks approximately 15 minutes prior to being stopped.

German Estrada consented to field sobriety testing which indicated multiple clues of impairment. A PBT indicated a BrAC over .08%. German Estrada was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing which resulted in a BAC reading of .075%.

German Estrada was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Eric E. Thornton, 64, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:53 p.m. June 1, at the intersection of Lucas and Maple streets on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 7:31 p.m. Thornton was identified as the driver in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation. Thornton showed significant signs of impairment.

He initially consented to one field sobriety test then changed his mind and refused all testing. Thornton consented to a PBT, and produced a BrAC result over .08%.

After being transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result indicated a BAC of .206%.

Thornton was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Noah A. Young, 25, of Creston, was taken into custody 8:47 a.m. June 2, on the 500 block of West Irving Street on two Union County warrants for failure to appear on the original charges of providing false identification information and disorderly conduct - loud or raucous noise.

According to Union County District Court documents, Young was ordered to appear May 14, in court for pre-trial conference on the original charges and did not appear.

Young was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $600 cash only bond.

Ashleigh N. Shinn, 36, of Diagonal, was taken into custody 4:35 p.m. June 2, on the 600 block of New York Avenue on the charge of driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, Shinn was observed by officers driving a 2008 Pontiac Grand Am. Shinn has a suspended license.

Shinn was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.
