While being transported to the Adair County Jail, Wickett complained of broken ribs, having not made any previous mention of needing medical attention. Adair County EMS transported Wickett from the jail to the Adair County Memorial Hospital at his request. At the hospital, Wickett declined to be seen by medical staff and requested to go back to the jail.
