Union County arrests - Feb. 23, 2024

Austin A. Jones, 29, of Creston, was taken into custody Feb. 16 on two Union County warrants for the charges of domestic abuse assault - second offense and violation of parole.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9 p.m. Dec. 26, while in the 1300 block of North Elm Street, Jones used his head to intentionally strike the head of his then girlfriend causing injury. The victim had visible bruising to her forehead observed by officers on Dec. 30. She provided a photo taken of her injuries shortly after the assault took place. Jones was contacted for an interview on the matter but refused to speak to law enforcement. Jones has a previous domestic assault conviction Feb. 2, 2019, in Union County.

According to an a Iowa Department of Correctional Services report, Jones, a parolee, violated the conditions of his parole on multiple occasions in 2023 including failing to report to scheduled appointments four times, testing positive for methamphetamines three times and for methamphetamines and marijuana once and was charged for domestic abuse assault by Creston Police.

Jones was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond on the Correctional Services charge and $2,000 cash or surety bond on the Creston charge.
