A Kent man was cited by police following a two-vehicle accident in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 3:45 p.m. a 2015 Chevrolet Express Southern Iowa Trolley van, driven by James M. Kneedler, 73, of Creston, was westbound in the outside lane of Highway 34/Taylor Street. Also westbound in the same lane, behind the Trolley, was a 2002 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by Frank M. Mills, 50, of Kent.

Kneedler made a brief lane change to the inside lane to make a wide right-hand turn, due to a snow pile at the entrance of a parking lot. Mills continued in the outside lane and became parallel with the Trolley.

When the Trolley turned, it struck the GMC broadside on the driver’s side of the truck. The passenger in the truck said the Trolley did not have a turn signal on and Kneedler admitted he did not see the truck.

Mills was unable to provide proof of insurance at the scene but told officers he would bring it to the law enforcement center the following day. When officer’s called Mills to remind him, he admitted to not having insurance. A citation was written and mailed to Mills for failure to provide proof of financial liability.

Damage to the GMC was estimated at $3,000 and damage to the Trolley was estimated at $5,000.

No injuries were reported Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 5:34 p.m., a 2003 Lexus 300, driven by Christina M. Williams, 44, of Creston, was northbound in the 300 block of North Sumner Street, when Williams attempted to slow to turn right into a driveway but was unable to in time and missed the turn.

Williams then came to a complete stop and began to backup into the driveway. At the same time a 2016 Nissan Rouge, driven by Emma G. Brightwell, 28, of Creston, also northbound in the same lane, crested the hill and saw the Lexus.

Brightwell attempted to go around the Lexus but was unable due to snowy road conditions and other traffic, and struck the Lexus.

Damage to the Rouge was estimated at $5,000 and damage to the Lexus was estimated at $3,000.

Freshly fallen snow and slick roads were a contributing factor Thursday in a two-vehicle accident in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 3:03 p.m. a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Colby Giza, 33, of Creston, was backing out of a driveway in the 700 block of West Mills Street when he struck a 2004 Ford Taurus, driven by Lynette M. Hudson, 65, of Creston, who was westbound on Mills Street.

Giza said he initially did not see the Taurus due to a parked vehicle but when he attempted to stop he was unable and slid into the street. Hudson also said she was unable to stop due to fresh snow on the ground and slick streets.

Damage to the Traverse was estimated at $4,000 and damage to the Taurus was estimated at $2,000.

A vehicle malfunction caused a truck to strike a building in Creston Friday afternoon.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:34 p.m. a 1998 Ford F150, driven by Zoey Vandevender, 17, of Prescott, was southbound on Sumner Street when the F150 began to accelerate on its own. Vandevender pulled off the street south of the Taylor Street intersection. She was unable to get the truck stopped and struck the Lucky’s Car Wash building.

Damage to the F150 was estimated at $500 and damage to the building was estimated at $1,000.
