Adair County report - Dec. 11, 2023

Ryan J. Cook, 44, of Anita, was taken into custody 3:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Adair County Sheriff’s Office on an Adair County warrant for the charge of violation of probation.

According to an Iowa Department of Correctional Services document, Cook was convicted in Adair County District Court of eluding - speed in excess of 25 mph over the speed limit while participating in a felony and OWI, third or subsequent offense and on May 12 was sentenced to five years prison on each charge, suspended, with three years probation.

Cook violated the terms of his probation on Nov. 18 when he left a court ordered treatment facility against advice and without approval prior to successful completion of the program. On Nov. 19 Cook returned to the facility to collect personal items and was found by staff to have alcohol in his system.

Cook was transported to the Adair County Jail and held without bond.
