Andrew Long, 34, of Creston, was taken into custody Oct. 19 at the Union County LEC on a Union County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of OWI, second offense.
According to Union County District Court documents, Long was to appear in court Feb. 17 for arraignment on the original charge and did not.
Long was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released on his own recognizance on a promise to appear and was transferred to the custody of Polk County where he also had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Savanna Dearden, 30, of West Des Moines, was taken into custody Oct. 21 on Four Mile Creek Drive on the charge of assault causing injury.
According to a Union County report, at approximately 10:30 p.m. deputies responded to a report of domestic assault including threats of harm with weapons. After arriving it was determined the victim had attempted to pick up Dearden from a house party when she became belligerent and assaulted the victim while inside the vehicle. Dearden ripped the victim’s shirt, caused abrasions on the victim’s eyebrow and scratches on their neck and back.
Dearden was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Davon Malone, 46, of Des Moines, was taken into custody Oct. 22 on Cherry Street Road near 110th Street on the charges of child endangerment and OWI, first offense. He was cited for no valid operator’s license.
According to a Union County report, at approximately 7:51 p.m. a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche was reported driving recklessly, almost causing multiple accidents, southbound on Henry A. Wallace Road entering the county. After advising dispatch his patrol unit was nearly hit by the truck, a traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, later identified as Malone.
Malone had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person and bloodshot, watery eyes. A visibly scared 6-year-old child was in the backseat of the truck. Malone admitted to drinking half of a pint of vodka, the empty bottle was found on the driver’s side floorboard. Malone consented to field sobriety testing, which showed indicators of impairment. A PBT test given, provided a BrAC result of .262%. Malone also told deputies he had smoked a marijuana joint.
Malone was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he submitted a breath sample for testing. The result of the test indicated a BAC of .263%.
Malone was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $3,000 cash or surety bond.
